How to apply a real estate sticker without bubbles

The short answer: don't peel the whole backing off at once. Line the sticker up, start at one end, and peel the backing away a little at a time in one direction while you press the sticker down behind it. Air is pushed out as you go, so bubbles don't get trapped.

What you need

  • The sticker, still on its backing sheet
  • A clean, dry cloth
  • A plastic card or squeegee to smooth it down
  • A strip of masking tape, for lining up long stickers (optional)

Step by step

  1. Clean the board. Wipe off dust and dirt and let the surface dry. Stickers grip best on a clean, dry board.
  2. Line it up. Hold the sticker in place on its backing and check it is straight. On a long sticker, a strip of masking tape along the top edge holds it in place while you work.
  3. Start at one end. Peel back a few centimetres of backing from one end and press that part onto the board.
  4. Peel and press in one direction. Keep peeling the backing a little at a time with one hand while you smooth the sticker down with the card in the other, working from the middle out to the edges.
  5. Finish the edges. Press firmly along every edge and corner so they stay down in wind and rain.

If a bubble appears

While the sticker is fresh, small bubbles can usually be pushed out to the nearest edge with the card. If one won't move, gently lift that part of the sticker and lay it down again, smoothing as you go.

What surfaces can I stick it on?

Real Stickers are made from monomeric self-adhesive vinyl that suits coreflute signboards, aluminium and ACM boards, acrylic, PVC foam board, glass and windows, and vehicles.

How long will it last, and can I remove it?

Our stickers are UV and weather resistant and last up to 2 years outdoors, depending on how much direct sun the board gets. The adhesive is removable, so you can peel the sticker off and reuse the board. Some adhesive may be left behind, depending on how the sticker was applied and how much sun it has had.
